NSW WorkCover Accredited OHS Consultation Course
Safety committee meets on a conference bike

Allied Air Conditioning Pty Ltd in Coffs Harbour recently attended the Go Safety Consulting Group OHS Consultation course and during the course held their first meeting on a conference bike.

The NSW WorkCover Accredited course for occupational health and safety representatives and committees is regularly run by Mitch Mitchell of the Go Safety Consulting Group.

“The compulsory four day course for workplace health and safety committee members covers everything a committee member needs to know about monitoring health and safety at work and in running an effective and successful committee” said trainer Mitch Mitchell.

“At Go Safety Consulting we promote active learning and we make sure that the ‘health’ component of workplace health and safety is actively promoted. This includes topics such as skin protection from the sun, hearing protection from loud noise and wellness programs that support government sponsored health promotion campaigns,” he said.

“Occupational health and safety committees are given the task of helping to promote high standards of health and safety at their workplace for everyone including contractors and visitors”, he said.

“Using the seven seat conference bike from Go Safety Consulting was ideal for a short meeting, was a lot of fun and as a bonus we got some exercise at the same time”, said committee member Anne Wrigglesworth.

“The conference bike is a fun way to bring people together. It is pedaled by seven riders sitting in a circle. The chairperson steers while the other six pedal as the bike moves effortlessly along. Conference bikes are being used to transport employees on the Google campus in California”, said Mitch Mitchell.

Leighton Contractors Precast facility safety committee on the go

The Leighton Contractors Precast Facility at Coffs Harbour specialises in the manufacture of precast concrete products for large and small infrastructure projects in the Sydney-Brisbane corridor.

The facility operations are underpinned by effective management systems which comply with the requirements of ISO9001, ISO14001 and AS4801 for quality, environmental  and safety management.

The site recently conducted OHS Consultation training for its committee members organised by site manager Ian Badman and during the course the new committee members held a training meeting on a conference bike.

Mitch Mitchell of the Go Safety Consulting Group worked with the OHS Committee members to give them the best training course available - and the healthiest with the use of a mobile classroom that gives course participants a healthy workout at the same time as learning.
